At Belmont Primary School, every child is given the opportunity to achieve their full potential in music. We aim for children to be engaged and inspired through a range of quality experiences.

Music is taught as a discrete weekly lesson following the guidelines of the National Curriculum. This includes musicianship, listening and responding, singing, playing tuned and untuned instruments, performing and improvising. We ensure these skills progress as children move through the year groups. World music, including Santors and African drumming is also taught by specialist teachers to extend the children’s practical experiences.

Bespoke instrumental and vocal tuition is available from the music service therefore ensuring any child who wishes to can take their musical journey further.

As a school, we enjoy celebrating our children’s musical achievements through performances to parents and in our school assemblies.
